MotherDuck

Connect your MotherDuck cloud data warehouse to Livedocs using an access token

You can connect your MotherDuck account to Livedocs directly from the Data tab in your workspace.

How to Connect

  1. Go to the Data tab in your workspace.
  2. Click Connect a Database.
  3. In the Database Type dropdown, select MotherDuck.
  4. Fill in the fields as shown below.
  5. Click Connect to MotherDuck.

Connection Fields Explained

  • Name – A friendly name for this connection (e.g., Analytics MotherDuck).
  • Token – Your MotherDuck access token. See below for how to create one.

Creating a MotherDuck Access Token

  1. Open the MotherDuck UI and click your organization name in the top left, then select Settings.
  2. Click the + Create token button.
  3. Give your token a descriptive name (e.g., Livedocs Connection).
  4. Select the token type – Read/Write (default) is recommended for full functionality.
  5. Choose whether you want the token to expire, then click Create token.
  6. Click the copy icon to copy the access token to your clipboard.

Treat your access token as sensitive information. Do not share it with others.

Additional Options

  • Allow Inserts and Updates – Enable this if you want Livedocs to write data to MotherDuck tables.
  • Don’t Have Credentials? – You can invite a teammate who has access to the MotherDuck account to connect it for you.
