You can connect your MotherDuck account to Livedocs directly from the Data tab in your workspace.
How to Connect
- Go to the Data tab in your workspace.
- Click Connect a Database.
- In the Database Type dropdown, select MotherDuck.
- Fill in the fields as shown below.
- Click Connect to MotherDuck.
Connection Fields Explained
- Name – A friendly name for this connection (e.g.,
Analytics MotherDuck). - Token – Your MotherDuck access token. See below for how to create one.
Creating a MotherDuck Access Token
- Open the MotherDuck UI and click your organization name in the top left, then select Settings.
- Click the + Create token button.
- Give your token a descriptive name (e.g.,
Livedocs Connection). - Select the token type – Read/Write (default) is recommended for full functionality.
- Choose whether you want the token to expire, then click Create token.
- Click the copy icon to copy the access token to your clipboard.
Treat your access token as sensitive information. Do not share it with others.
Additional Options
- Allow Inserts and Updates – Enable this if you want Livedocs to write data to MotherDuck tables.
- Don’t Have Credentials? – You can invite a teammate who has access to the MotherDuck account to connect it for you.
