Collaboration Features in Livedocs
Livedocs supports real-time collaboration, allowing you and your team to edit a document together with changes appearing instantly.
Real-Time Editing
- Any member of your workspace can view and edit a document at the same time.
- All changes are synced live, without requiring a refresh.
Cell Locking
- Only one person can edit a cell at a time to prevent conflicts.
- When a user is editing a cell, they “lock” it.
- The cell header will show the profile picture of the person who currently has the lock.
Taking Over a Cell
- Hover over the profile picture in the locked cell.
- Click Take Over to obtain the lock and begin editing.
- This is useful if the current editor is away or you need to make urgent changes.
Best Practices for Collaboration
- Communicate with your team when working on the same document to avoid overwriting changes.
- Use cell titles and comments to make intentions clear.
- Avoid taking over cells without confirming with the current editor, unless necessary.
- Break large changes into smaller, separate cells so multiple people can work in parallel.
- Regularly save and run cells to ensure the most up-to-date results are visible to everyone.
